The South African Army is inviting applications for its 2026 Training Programme under the Military Skills Development System (MSDS). This initiative provides young South Africans with a unique chance to serve their country in uniform under a two-year contract.
Programme Overview
During the first year, recruits will undergo intensive military and functional training. In the second year, they will be deployed as needed, gaining practical experience and enhancing their skills in real-world scenarios.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:
General Requirements:
• Must be a South African citizen (no dual citizenship permitted).
• Age Requirements:
• 18 – 22 years (for applicants with Grade 12).
• 18 – 26 years (for those with a minimum N6 or a three-year tertiary qualification).
• Must have completed Grade 12 with an APS of 17 or higher (excluding Life Orientation).
• No criminal record or pending cases.
• Must meet medical fitness standards as required by the South African Army.
• No visible tattoos on the neck, face, lower arms, or legs.
Physical Requirements:
• Minimum height:
• Females: 148 cm
• Males: 155 cm
• Minimum weight:
• Females: 48 kg
• Males: 52 kg
• BMI Guidelines:
• Females: 18.5 – 30
• Males: 19 – 30
Recruitment Process
