Key Responsibilities
Job Opportunity: General Workers at City of Tshwane (4 Positions Available)
As a General Worker, you will be instrumental in maintaining clean and functional sewer infrastructure. Your daily tasks may include:
• Removing blockages from sewer lines to ensure proper flow
• Digging and refilling trenches to support pipe repair and maintenance
• Loading and unloading tools, equipment, and materials from vehicles
• Operating manual water pumps
• Assisting plumbers and supervisors during repair tasks, including fitting and aligning pipe sections
• Cleaning work areas, depots, and service vehicles after job completion
• Supporting safe operations in line with Occupational Health and Safety standards
Your role is vital to keeping our systems running efficiently and minimizing service disruptions for residents and businesses alike.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who meet the following basic requirements:
• Physically healthy, strong, and capable of handling demanding manual tasks
• Basic literacy is required
• Prior experience in wastewater maintenance is a strong plus
• Must be free of chronic back problems
• Willing to undergo a criminal background check
• Must consent to fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (at own cost)
• Able and willing to work shifts, perform standby duties, and respond to overtime needs as required
