SANParks General Worker Vacancies
1. General Worker (x3) – Kruger National Park
SANParks is looking for three dedicated General Workers to join the team in Kruger National Park. The ideal candidates should be willing to perform a variety of tasks, including cleaning, maintenance, and general assistance in daily park operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine cleaning duties, ensuring ablution blocks, work areas, and surrounding spaces meet the prescribed hygiene standards.
• Monitor and control inventory items, ensuring necessary supplies are available.
• Report any abnormalities, including damaged equipment, maintenance issues, and safety hazards.
• Assist in the collection and transportation of supplies when needed.
• Support general maintenance and operational activities within the section.
• Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the Team Leader or Management to support daily park operations.
Skills & Requirements:
• No formal qualifications required, but previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in an outdoor environment.
• Basic understanding of cleaning and maintenance procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays if required.
2. Handyman – Garden Route National Park (Wilderness Section)
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Handyman to assist with maintenance and operational tasks at Garden Route National Park – Wilderness Section. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in general repairs and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in maintaining park infrastructure, including buildings, equipment, and terrain.
• Support the implementation of conservation and park management plans.
• Conduct regular inventory checks on tools, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and supplies used.
• Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies as per operational needs.
• Perform minor repair work, such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical fixes, and report any major issues that require specialized attention.
• Support fire management activities, including veld fire suppression and controlled burns.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational guidelines.
Skills & Requirements:
• Prior experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a similar role.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Ability to use various hand and power tools effectively.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor conditions.
• Willingness to work irregular hours if necessary.
