VACANCIES FOR THE RE-ENLISTMENT OF FORMER MEMBERS OF THEย SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE (PROJECTย
2024/2025) The South African Police Service invites former members, who comply with the following requirements to apply for re-enlistment. Successful candidates will be appointed in the ranks they previously held, only for the ranks of Constable, Sergeant and Warrant Officer.ย
The posts contained in this advertisement are for former members who previously held the ranks of Constable, Sergeant and Warrant Officer only. Commencing salary: RANK REMUNERATION Constable R226 188 per annum Sergeant R283 797 per annum Warrant Officer R351 570 per annumย
Former members must:-ย
- Have been appointed as a member of the South African Police Service in terms of the Police Service Act 68, 1995 on the ranks of Constable, Sergeant and Warrant Officer;ย ย
- Have successfully completed basic police training and relevant functional police training courses, where applicable;ย
- Have a good disciplinary and attendance record during their former employment in the South African Police Service;ย
- Be in possession of at least a Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or higher qualification; Have at least a valid light motor vehicle license (code B);ย
- Be a South African citizen of which documentary proof must be furnished; Be proficient in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;
- Submit himself or herself to a medical examination as determined by the National Commissioner;ย ย ย
- Undergo a psychological assessment as determined by the National Commissioner and be found to comply with the profile of a police official;ย ย
- Not have any tattoo marks of which will be visible and irreconcilable with the objectives of the Service;ย
- Have no previous criminal convictions, and/or pending criminal, disciplinary cases and such person shall allow his or her fingerprints to be taken and allow background enquiries to be made;ย
- Not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm;ย
- Be prepared to be deployed based on the needs of the Service which may include having to relocate at oneโs own expense and or to accept a post away from oneโs current place of residence that could result in reasonable travelling;ย
- Not be involved in any business or activity that will be in conflict of interest with the integrity of the Service;ย
- Be willing to undergo a refresher course or any other training as determined by the National * * Commissioner. Successful candidates who does not have experience/formal detective training will be subjected to three months training immediately after appointment;ย
- Successful applicants for appointment, will be vetted in terms of Chapter 7, Part 2 of the Childrenโs Act, 2005 (Act no 38 of 2005) or the National Sex Offenders Register [section 42 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act no 32 of 2007)].ย ย
- A candidate whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post; and Candidates are expected to disclose if he / she is a respondent in an interim or final protection order in terms of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998 (Act no 116 of 1998) or Protection from Harassment Act, 2011 (Act No 17 of 2011), and may be disqualified from appointment to that post.ย

Must not be older than 55 years of age on the closing date of the advertisement.ย
Applications of former members who have left the Service under any of theย following circumstances will NOT be considered for re-enlistment:-ย
- Members who have reached retirement age (early retirement or compulsory retirement age);ย
- Members who have been dishonorably discharged or dismissed;ย
- Members who have left the Service pending the completion of a disciplinary enquiry and/or criminal proceedings;ย
- and Members who have left the Service due to severance package, ill health or retirement as a result of a medical boarding;ย

- Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website (www.saps.gov.za) and at SAPS Police Stations) will be accepted. The Z83 previously utilized will no longer be accepted. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application. The SAPS application forms can also be obtained from any SAPS Recruitment Office within the South African Police Service.ย ย ย ย
- The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form.ย ย ย
- A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae as well as uncertified copies of an applicantโs ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the post and motor vehicle driverโs license must be submitted together with the application form.ย ย ย
- Original documentations of shot listed candidates must be produced during the selection process as requested. Qualifications and driverโs licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions.ย If a candidate is short-listed, it will be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview.ย ย ย
- Reference checking will be conducted on all short listed applicants.ย ย ย
- The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks.ย ย ย
- Late applications will not be accepted or considered. If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview as well as a practical assessment.ย ย
- Reference checking will be conducted on all short listed candidates.ย ย ย
- Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Childrenโs Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005).ย ย ย ย ย
- A candidate whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post. All short-listed candidates will be subjected to fingerprint screening.ย ย
