Purpose of the position: 

The purpose of this job is to coordinate health promotion services in the district to empower Children, Adolescents and Youth to live a healthy lifestyle by providing knowledge necessary for them to take charge of their own health. You will also be required to implement policies that promote healthy lifestyle to people to reduce high risks of life-threatening diseases. 

Minimum Requirements

Matric    

Have to be between the ages of 20-35 years

10 day HIV counselling and finger prick compliance

Health promotion qualification will be an advantage

Knowledge of NSP; GBVF NSP; OSS

Valid code 8 driverโ€™s license

Duties and Responsibilities

To facilitate implementation the district child, adolescent and youth Health Promotion operational plan   

Timeously compile monthly and quarterly reports and submit to the supervising manager.

Participate in monthly meetings with Health Promotion Programme and child, adolescent and youth

Maintain records appropriate to the Health Promotion and adolescent and youth Programme

Assess and address district health literacy needs

Support, coordinate, review, develop, test and translate information, education and communication material.    

Implement provincial IEC campaigns event/programmes especially those targeting adolescent and children.

Facilitate, implement and monitor in-service training programmes and activities related to HP in the

district

Organise and monitor skills development programmes health care workers

Facilitate and conduct orientation for newly appointed HPPs and youth peer mentors.    

Advocate for Health Promotion in different settings to other health programmes, relevant sectors and stakeholders

Facilitate support for HP activities during specific school and other youth events

Develop a HP implementation plan in line with the KZN HP strategy and coordinate the implementation to address the emerging health issues

Advocate and mobilize resources to address the outbreak/specific health issue

Coordinate and participate in meetings, teams/ forums
