Job Title: Data Capturer
Location: Various sites across South Africa (within Correctional Facilities)
Reporting To: Regional Data Monitor
Contract Type: Fixed-term with possibility of extension based on funding and performance


Your Core Responsibilities

Data Capturer – TB HIV Care 


In this role, you’ll be entrusted with a variety of essential tasks, including:
• Capturing and Processing Health Data:
Accurately capture TB and HIV-related data from both primary (e.g., clinic records, testing registers) and secondary (e.g., lab results, referral notes) sources into THC’s monitoring systems in accordance with the DCS and DoH programme requirements.

• Data Integrity and Quality Assurance:
Collaborate with Regional Data Monitors to conduct routine data audits, verify data accuracy, and identify inconsistencies. Ensure that all entries meet the standards of the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) framework.

Timely Submission of Reports:
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly data reports. Maintain signed-off copies of submissions to ensure a verifiable paper trail for internal audits and funder evaluations.

Stakeholder Communication and Support:
Engage regularly with HAST Counsellors, Health Managers, Correctional Facility Officers, and other stakeholders to streamline data flow and resolve issues as they arise.

Patient Records Management:
Ensure systematic daily filing and secure storage of sensitive inmate and patient records, including blood results, ART adherence data, and TB treatment outcomes.

Uphold Confidentiality Standards:
Comply strictly with THC’s confidentiality policies and ensure sensitive personal health information (PHI) is handled responsibly and securely at all times.

Report Issues Promptly:
Act as an early-warning system for data bottlenecks, tech issues, or field-related challenges by reporting concerns immediately to the Regional Data Monitor.

Support Performance Monitoring:
Help document and analyze trends in programme performance, feeding into THC’s broader strategy for continuous improvement and impact measurement.

Who We’re Looking For – Candidate Requirements

Data Capturer – TB HIV Care 


To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of education, practical experience, and the right mindset. Below are the minimum and preferred qualifications:


Educational Background:
• Minimum Requirement: Senior Certificate / Matric

• Preferred: Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Health Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field

Note: Applicants with at least 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of formal qualification will also be considered.


Experience & Skills:


• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a data entry, data management, or M&E role

• Familiarity with electronic health records, data verification procedures, and routine reporting standards

• Experience working with Net Data Systems or similar platforms is essential

• Prior work experience in Correctional Services or similar institutional settings is highly advantageous

• Demonstrated understanding of public health systems in South Africa, particularly around HIV and TB care

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word

• Ability to speak and write fluently in English; proficiency in isiZulu or another local language is a plus

• Valid Code 08 Driver’s License (essential for field mobility)
