About the Role: What You’ll Do as a Stores Assistant

As a Stores Assistant, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the Engineering Stores area. This includes receiving, issuing, and storing items safely and efficiently—always maintaining a clean, orderly, and compliant warehouse environment.
Your role is critical in supporting engineering projects, ensuring operational continuity, and upholding the integrity of inventory systems. This position is perfect for those who excel in warehouse jobs that demand attention to detail, initiative, and cross-functional coordination.

Core Job Responsibilities

Your key duties will include but are not limited to:
• Issuing materials and receiving incoming stock into the Engineering Store

• Performing forklift operations when required (forklift license preferred)

• Ensuring compliance with EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) regulations in all storage and transport activities

• Accurately capturing inventory transactions in SAP

• Booking and verifying stock upon delivery and ensuring proper storage

• Picking and issuing stock to the correct departments or personnel

• Conducting regular stock takes and ensuring records are up to date

• Managing the issuing and maintenance of engineering tools and equipment

• Assisting in the storage and handling of Production Equipment in both the main store and auxiliary containers

• Keeping the store, storage containers, and surrounding areas organized, clean, and audit-ready

• Supporting engineering project staff in managing project-specific inventory

• Participating in ad hoc administrative and inventory control tasks as needed

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this Stores Assistant position, applicants must meet the following educational and experiential criteria:
• Matric / Grade 12, with Mathematics as a subject

• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or warehouse environment, preferably in the chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industry

• Valid forklift driver’s license is preferred

• Computer literacy: Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and enterprise resource systems such as SAP

• Proven administrative and organizational abilities

• Experience working in structured and regulated environments is highly beneficial
