Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate, process, and manage Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims in line with the Department’s operational standards and the Unemployment Insurance Act. As a UI Claims Officer, your role will directly impact citizens who are in need of temporary financial assistance after losing employment. You’ll ensure accurate assessment, registration, and payment of claims, while delivering high-quality customer service.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

As a UI Claims Officer, your daily tasks will include the following:
Claims Processing:
• Receive, assess, and register all UI claims through designated systems.

• Ensure each claim is in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and legislative frameworks.

Employer and Employee Records:
• Register new employers and verify employee declarations.

• Monitor and verify contributions and employee records for UI compliance.

Payment Execution:
• Process and authorize the payment of approved claims.

• Ensure payments are made within set timeframes with zero delays or errors.

Customer Service and Inquiries:
• Address all queries regarding processed claims or related matters.

• Offer assistance both over the phone and in person at the labour centres.

Administration:
