About the Role


As a Customer Service Clerk at Absa Bank in Lydenburg, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include addressing queries, resolving complaints, and providing guidance on our banking products and services. Key Duties and Responsibilities


• Customer Interaction & Support:
Engage with customers both in person and via telephone or digital platforms. Provide accurate, friendly, and helpful responses to inquiries regarding bank accounts, transactions, loans, and other financial products.

• Complaint Resolution:
Handle customer complaints with sensitivity and urgency. Follow up diligently to ensure issues are fully resolved to the customer’s satisfaction, while maintaining records of all interactions.

• Operational Compliance:
Adhere to Absa’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with all risk and compliance regulations. Ensure that all activities meet internal policies and external legal requirements.

• Process Optimization:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the Customer Service Centre. Offer suggestions for streamlining services and enhancing efficiency.

• Recordkeeping & Administration:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, service requests, and internal reports. Ensure documentation complies with internal audit and data protection policies.

• Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with internal departments and team members to ensure customer issues are addressed holistically. Build strong, respectful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Learning & Self-Development:
Take initiative in advancing your knowledge of banking systems, customer service protocols, and industry changes. Attend workshops, complete training sessions, and actively seek feedback for continuous personal improvement.

Required Qualifications and Skills


• Minimum Qualification:
Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.

• Experience:
Prior experience in customer service, retail banking, or a similar client-facing role is preferred but not mandatory.

• Key Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities

• Customer-focused mindset

• Familiarity with digital banking systems

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
