Job Overview
Rand Water is currently seeking two (2) Stores Assistants to join its team. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in the efficient management of inventory, including the receipt and distribution of stock. The role requires individuals who can process and capture documents accurately, whether through digital systems like SAP or manually. Additionally, the role involves ensuring proper cost allocation for all issued inventory, performing general administrative tasks, generating reports, and handling other related store duties as needed.
The ideal candidates should possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a structured warehouse or inventory management environment. A commitment to workplace safety, compliance with company regulations, and maintaining high standards in store operations is essential.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Educational Qualification: Matric (Grade 12) certification is required.
• Work Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
• Technical Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with SAP ERP is also required for effective inventory management.
• Driving License: A valid K53 driver’s license is mandatory.
• Equipment Handling: Candidates must be certified to operate an overhead crane and a forklift. A valid competency certificate is required, though both active and expired certificates will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
• Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, issuing, and properly storing inventory items to maintain an organized and efficient store environment.
• Stock Organization: Stack and arrange inventory in a systematic manner for easy retrieval and storage.
• Stock-Taking: Participate in scheduled stock counts, including periodic and ad-hoc inventory audits, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions, using both SAP software and manual systems as required.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders to enhance overall customer satisfaction.
• Compliance & Security: Enforce in-store security measures and ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSH Act), as well as Rand Water’s SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) policies and procedures.
• Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of inventory items to ensure they meet quality standards before distribution.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit daily reports on stock movements, discrepancies, and overall inventory status.
• Communication & Coordination: Maintain clear and effective communication with team members, supervisors, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless store operations.
• General Store Duties: Perform other assigned tasks related to inventory control and warehouse management as needed.
