Job Purpose

Cashier


As a Cashier, you will be a key member of the operational team at MBCC. Your responsibilities will include handling cash and electronic payments, controlling visitor access, assisting with administrative duties, and engaging both paying and non-paying guests in a professional and welcoming manner. Youโ€™ll play a frontline role in shaping visitor experiences while ensuring accurate and secure financial transactions that support conservation operations.


Minimum Qualifications and Experience


Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
โ€ข Educational Requirements:

โ€ข Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) with 5 years of relevant experience, OR

โ€ข Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with 4 years of relevant experience

โ€ข A qualification at NQF Level 5 or higher is a valuable asset

โ€ข Professional Competencies:

โ€ข Demonstrated experience in cash handling and electronic payment processing

โ€ข Strong numerical and reconciliation skills

โ€ข Familiarity with financial systems and point-of-sale operations

โ€ข Solid computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet navigation

โ€ข Effective communication and interpersonal skills

โ€ข Attention to detail, reliability, and customer service orientation

โ€ข Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

โ€ข Valid driverโ€™s license with at least 12 months of driving experience

โ€ข Willingness to travel nationally, as required by the role

Key Duties and Responsibilities


As part of your daily responsibilities, you will:
โ€ข Process financial transactions and issue receipts

โ€ข Manage gate access and monitor entry of guests and service providers

โ€ข Maintain high standards of customer service and public interaction

โ€ข Perform general administrative support, including bookings and handling queries

โ€ข Assist with animal donation logistics and visitor registrations

โ€ข Participate in staff coordination, stakeholder relations, and HR reporting

โ€ข Engage in ad hoc tasks that support operational efficiency and conservation goals
