Job Overview
Cleaner
The Department of Health and Wellness is seeking dedicated individuals to fill three Cleaner positions. This role requires individuals who can perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy supplies and working at heights with a stepladder. Successful candidates will be expected to operate heavy-duty cleaning and household equipment and rotate between different clinics based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Remove refuse, clean garbage bins daily, and maintain cleanliness in toilets, sluices, and drains.
• Wash windows and walls within the clinic premises.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained, cleaned after use, and securely stored.
• Assist the supervisor with housekeeping duties, including managing cleaning supplies, caring for linen, and serving patients.
• Adhere to safety protocols when handling waste.
• Participate in in-service training related to service delivery.
Required Competencies & Skills:
• Ability to work independently, within a team, and without constant supervision.
• Strong sense of accountability and responsibility.
• Capable of handling conflict and working under pressure.
• Skilled in operating cleaning machinery and equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Relevant cleaning experience within a healthcare environment.
Additional Information:
• No payment is required for job applications.
• Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a practical test.
• Candidates in the applicant pool may be considered for similar positions within the Breede Valley Sub-District for up to three months from the advertisement date.
Remuneration:
• Hourly rate: R86.45
• Includes an additional 37% in lieu of service benefits

• Background verification checks will be conducted for shortlisted candidates, including security clearance, qualification verification, and criminal record checks.

• Identity Document (ID)
• Driver’s license (if applicable)
• Relevant qualifications or proof of registration with a statutory body
