Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Ltd is looking for a hardworking and reliable General Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment while ensuring that all housekeeping duties are carried out efficiently. This role is essential in creating a comfortable and professional space for staff and visitors. The ideal candidate should be proactive, have great attention to detail, and be able to handle multiple responsibilities, including cleaning, maintaining hygiene standards, and catering for meetings.


Key Responsibilities


• Perform daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
• Empty waste bins and dispose of trash appropriately.
• Clean and maintain glass doors, mirrors, and windows to ensure a neat appearance.
• Regularly dust and wipe down office furniture, workstations, and equipment.
• Ensure that all cleaning materials and chemicals are stored properly and safely.
• Assist in preparing refreshments and serving tea, coffee, and snacks during scheduled meetings and events.
• Follow hygiene and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate department.
• Support staff with general tasks as required.


Minimum Requirements


• A Matric certificate or an equivalent qualification.
• A valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is an added advantage.


Experience & Qualifications


• A minimum of one year of experience working as a General Assistant, preferably in a clinical research environment.

• Accountability and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Experience in cleaning, catering for meetings, and providing excellent customer service.
• A friendly and professional attitude when interacting with staff, participants, and visitors.

• Empathy, patience, and understanding when dealing with participants and team members.
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
